C’était il y a plusieurs années déjà. Je photographiais toujours ce mec parce qu’il était trop beau et qu’il faisait tout ce que je voulais. On était à l’école ensemble à Amsterdam. Ensuite, je suis allée le voir en Pennsylvanie et j’ai habité avec lui dans la maison de ses parents, absents à l’époque. On s’est bien marré. On est toujours pote mais je ne l’ai pas vu depuis plusieurs années—il va bientôt venir à Berlin et j’ai vraiment hâte de le revoir.
La photo de la ballerine, je l’ai prise pendant un shooting de mode chiant avec les étudiantes d’une école de danse vieux-jeu et très stricte de Berlin-Est. Il y avait toujours une prof pour vérifier que je ne prenne pas de photos contraires à l’éthique de l’école. C’était saoulant. À la fin de la séance, la prof a disparu pendant trois secondes et c’est là que j’ai fait cette photo. La fille a été hyper cool et l’a adorée!
Ces clichés-ci mettent tous en scène une de mes amies. L’idée, c’était qu’elle devait jouer la Reeni (la skinhead)—sexy et méchante en même temps. La séance a eu lieu dans une ancienne base de l’armée soviétique, collée à un hippodrome délabré qui fonctionne encore. Il y avait une atmosphère socialiste complètement surréaliste qui m’a beaucoup plu.
